Is My Transmission Slipping?
Are you experiencing high engine revs and your vehicle doesn’t accelerate as much as it should then your transmission might be slipping. It’s not recommended to drive a vehicle with a slipping transmission. It could be dangerous for you, your vehicle, and even other vehicles
nearby. Continuing to drive with a slipping transmission can turn what might be a small relatively easy to repair problem into a larger issue that will cost significantly more to fix.

Perform a Quick Test
Perform a quick open road test. Once behind the wheel, locate the tachometer, speedometer, and RPM’s gauge display. Accelerate while watching the tachometer, speedometer, and RPM’s gauge display. If the tachometer reacts and the RPM’s and speedometer barely move, then your transmission is slipping.Common Causes for Transmission Slipping
Transmission Fluid Level is Low –
Low transmission fluid levels can lead to gear slipping. Low fluid levels create a lack of internal pressure inside the transmission assembly. The lack of pressure will keep the transmission from fully engaging causing gears slippage.Dirty Transmission Fluid –
Healthy transmission fluid often appears red in color. Dirty transmission fluid is dark brown or black and may have a burnt smell. Dirty fluid can prevent the gears from shifting properly.Worn Out Clutch -
Difficulty shifting gears is one of the main symptoms of a worn-out clutch. A spongy feeling clutch pedal and slow acceleration are also signs it time to get your transmission serviced.Clogged Transmission Filter –
When the transmission fluid is blocked by a clogged filter, the internal transmission components won’t have the required lubrication to function properly. This could lead to slipping transmission, grinding gears or other transmission problems.Bad Transmission Solenoid –
A bad shift solenoid can cause transmission slippage. As the transmission control unit signals the solenoids, the valves will operate by opening and closing to allow movement of transmission fluid. If the process slows down, the gears will slip or possibly fail.Eagle Transmission repair Shop in Mesquite provides expert transmission repair, fluid service and much

Automatic transmission is one of the most complex systems in a vehicle. You need to pay close attention if your vehicle starts running differently such as strange sounds, peculiar smells, or handling differently while driving. These signs could indicate a problem with your transmission. Properly diagnosing the vehicle’s problem is very important.

First let’s start at the beginning. Many new drivers and even people that have been driving for years don’t know what kind of transmission is in their vehicle and that’s ok. But to be able to take care of your vehicle better, it’s best to know what type you have under the hood. So, let’s begin with discussing what is a transmission?

The torque converter is a vital part of your automatic transmission. It is a complex and highly sensitive component that allows your vehicle to shift automatically between gears. It is crucial to know the signs of a failing torque converter because once damaged it can lead to further transmission damage.
